iRacing Petit Le Mans 10 hour endurance race

RACE REPORT For those of you that know me, you will be expecting this report. For those that don’t then sit back, grab a coffee or if you’re from Benelux grab a beer and take a few minutes out of your busy lives and humour me by reading all about the greatest day in the short life of my sim racing journey. Remember the date, 06/10/2018 because I will never forget it. For 3 years SRW have entered almost every GT3 based iRacing special event. Bathurst 12 hour, Sebring 12 hour, Spa 24 hour and the Petit Le Mans 10 hour at Road Atlanta with varying degrees of success. 6th place at Spa 2018 and 4th place at Road Atlanta in 2017 being our best results. On those occasions they were amazing times and amazing hours spent with great friends. The highs the lows and the frustration of poor drivers around you during these special events make them exactly what they are, Special. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, iRacing is the best sim in the world, whether you agree with me or no

iRacing Spa 24 hour – The struggle is worth it.

Rewind 12 months and Sim Racers UK entered a team into the spa 24 hour and did rather well for our first attempt. We finished a respectable 13 th place in the second split of the re-run at the 6pm time slot for last chance teams. The event is well documented in my last blog and if anything was learnt from that event, then we needed to bring that to the table for 2017. If I was to say that the Spa 24H special event was the highlight of my sim year then I would be under stating it. It gets entered in my calendar during January when iRacing announce the dates for the race weekend and I wouldn’t miss it for the world. The planning, the prep and the designing of the ltd edition team skin for that weekend is as important as the race itself. Oh and the most observant of you will have noticed we have had a team name change since last year’s event. In the last 12 months we have been through several colour and name changes and we have re-branded the group and made it

iRacing Spa 24H 'The struggle is real'

It's been over 3 years since my last blog and in my virtual race world things have taken a huge turn. I had given up on the console world due to the feeling of being constantly cheated out of my hard earned money by game developers who for some reason feel they can release AAA titles unfinished. i digress, you can read about this in my last post. However, roll back to May 2015 and my hunger to find a sim racing title that satisfied my needs i took the plunge and spent a small fortune (to me) on building my own PC for this purpose. over the next 6 months i dabbled in many titles that had been kicking around for a few years and some that had only been released that summer and I still felt uninspired, but during that time I did learn a lot about mod's and skinning which i really enjoyed, but the online side of the racing was always sparse and with unfair rules and full of 'drivers' that felt they could drive like idiots and ruin your race for fun. Christmas 2015 and i

Gaming.....The beginning of the end.

Well its happening. The end has begun, for me. I knew it would happen at some point in time and its been coming for a while but its officially here now, post E3 and after 18 years with a Playstation beside my TV and its time for me has come to an end. Before I get into the reasons why, lets take a look back and reflect on my personal highlights of the last 18 years. For me PSone highlights were just 3 games that I played to death and I lost many hours to. The first mention has to go out to a developer that has been close to my heart over the last 18 years and has actually contributed to my move away from gaming altogether. Codemasters. Toca Touring Cars. for me the definitive racing game of its time, just a shame that is was pre-online multiplayer and the modern phenomenom that we all take for granted now, ultra fast broadband. Second place has to be the first instalment of the highly popular million selling GT series. Gran Turismo. one game that has captured the hearts of ever

PureTechRacing F1 sim Race Day

It all started about 2 months ago when a friend suggested checking out PTR on the internet and asking me what i thought a and would i be interested?  and as a petrolhead i couldn't resist. PTR is billed as 'The first and most advanced formula racing simulator in the world'. After googling it, they do not lie. The centre is situated only a mile from Gatwick North Terminal and within easy reach of London and the south coast and the home counties. It seemed the perfect location for a meet-up with 9 other like minded friends, so set about organising what could be the best day out for any racing fan remotely interested in F1. After several phone calls to the very helpful staff at PTR the deal was done. 25th April 4pm was written in the diary at a cost of £450 for the race experience plus deal for 10 people. A very reasonable £45 per head for 3x15 minute sessions. A 50% Deposit was taken to confirm the day and the rest settled on arrival. It was booked and all we had to
